“The first few days I wandered around the meandering grassy dunes to find an optimal viewpoint of the property that showcases just how well situated it is.”

At the heart of the home, the kitchen sits at the centre, offering a 360-degree view of both interior and exterior. It serves as the hub of daily life, where he makes breakfast, drinks his morning coffee, and plans shoots and often transforms into a temporary studio, with equipment spread across the counter until cleared for dinner.

One evening stands out above all. After two days of muted skies, the third night brought a golden-hour glow that dissolved into a sunset framed perfectly by the living room window, producing some of his favourite shots from the series.
Later, as dusk settled, Richard captured the image that came to define his stay - the deep dusty blues of the sky set against the warm glow of the interior lights, a composition that conveys life at Cold Hawaii: the meeting of nature’s elements and the comfort of home.
