Vipp Montafon Haus Bedroom 01

Across 196 m² and three floors, Vipp Montafon Haus unfolds as a layered Alpine dwelling shaped by its original structure. On the ground floor, low coffered ceilings, wood-panelled walls, and a central stove create an intimate sequence of kitchen, dining, and living spaces. Above, raised ceilings introduce light and openness across four bedrooms, with views extending towards the surrounding Alpine landscape. Thick outer walls, preserved details, and warm timber interiors root the house in its historic structure.

From EUR 625 per night. Sleeps up to 8 adults.

The door opens into a generous entry where the lifted ceiling allows light and space to unfold around a central staircase connecting the three floors. An old Montafoner table, crafted from several types of wood, anchors the entrance. Once made by only a few local craftsmen, it reflects a regional tradition.

The kitchen is anchored by a two-module, all-stainless-steel Vipp V4 island, paired with existing in-wall industrial modules, also in stainless steel. Designed to withstand daily use, the V4’s all-metal construction brings the resilience of a professional kitchen. Over time, it develops a soft patina, adding character to the guesthouse.

A small window between the entrance and the kitchen, a remnant of the original house, offers a discreet view of arriving guests, a practical detail from another time.

Its rich history and setting in the Austrian Alps made it a natural next chapter in our evolving guesthouse story.”

Vipp Montafon Haus Bedroom 04

The first floor houses a cosy living area furnished with Vipp Lodge chairs and a coffee table, where a wide window frame along one wall makes a perfect sunlit seating area in the afternoon. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, occupy this level.
At the heart of the floor, a second staircase leads to the top floor, where a fourth bedroom is tucked under the roof. Once a storage room, it retains the original door and frames. A tiny, low doorway that invites guests to stoop - a charming reminder of the house’s history.

In three of the four bedrooms, a small “Seelenfenster,” or soul window, sits high under the ceiling. Rooted in Alpine folk tradition, these openings were once said to let the soul depart. In practice, they likely served as ventilation or service hatches, their mystical name lending a romantic, historic note.

Vipp Montafon Haus Outdoor 06
A house shaped by time and tradition

In 2020, local architects gently renovated the house with reverence for its original structure and historical details. Existing frames were preserved, and the exterior remains true to its Alpine roots, with a shingled roof and sage-green shutters. New timber and steel additions honour the past while introducing contemporary touches. Thick outer walls insulate against harsh Alpine winters, while wooden interiors add warmth and echo the surrounding forested landscape. Though nestled in the village valley, the house opens onto scenic views of the mountains beyond.
