Vipp 452 Swivel Chair Polished Dark Sand Castors Detail 02
Aluminium, polished

Vipp’s polished aluminium is untreated, meaning the surface will naturally oxidize and develop a patina over time. This is a natural process that adds character to the material. Chairs, coffee tables, and studio desk are crafted from aluminium - primarily cast components but also assembled with extruded parts. All aluminium elements are polished to achieve a bright, reflective surface.

Care Instructions:

  • Clean the surface using a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive sponges or harsh cleaning agents, as these can scratch the surface.

  • If necessary, use mild soap with lukewarm water, followed by thorough drying with a soft cloth.

  • Avoid prolonged contact with moisture, acidic substances, or greasy fingerprints, as these can accelerate oxidation.

  • Be aware that oxidation may appear as darker areas on the surface, especially along polishing lines where residual polish wax may be present.

  • To restore a polished surface and remove the oxidised dark layer, a wrung cloth with lukewarm water and a little baking powder can be rubbed onto the aluminium. This will clean and shine the surface, but the patina and oxidation will start again.
