Denmark's first urban farm, ØsterGRO, has opened its greenhouse doors to an eatery amidst greens, wild flowers, chickens and honeybees on a 600 M2 rooftop.

Meet the founders
ØsterGRO was established in Copenhagen’s Østerbro district in 2014 on top of a building that was originally used to auction cars. Founders of the farm, Livia Urban Swart Haaland and Kristian Skaarup, put organic food production in focus by sharing its rooftop-produce among the association’s members and by hosting events for the entire city.

Greenhouse eatery
Livia and Kristian wanted to make a creative kitchen environment equipped with a practical, good quality kitchen and a happy team of chefs driven by the joy of cooking. To realise their dream of an eatery, the founders teamed up with Vipp. The Vipp kitchen is designed with inspiration from the professional market with solid, rubber-coated grips, a hygienic steel table top for hot pans and finally it is raised on legs for easy cleaning.

Family-style dinner
As a guest on Gro Spiseri, you will experience a strong sense of community. Guests are gathered around the long table in the greenhouse and the food is served ‘family style’ on shared plates by passionate chefs. After dinner, guests can watch the sun set over the city while being warmed by a bonfire beneath the stars.
